1991 Arctic Cat JAG 340 Mountain Cat pilot build
Jag 340 Mountain Cats were only produced for two model years, 1990 and 1991. Built with a slightly longer 131" track length (vs a 116" on the non-Mountain Cat model) it was intended to be a lightweight utility snowmobile simple in design and easy to maintain in remote areas. This is powered with its original Suzuki 340cc fan-cooled engine with oil injection. Utilizes leaf spring suspension on the skis, during a time when most models were becoming independent front suspension systems. It has no gauges, no electric start etc to weigh it down or to complicate maintenece. It is believed that 600 1990 Jag Mountain Cats were built for the North American market, with the majority of those being sold through Canadian dealers. Of those 600, 5 of those bear a 1990 vin number but were built as 1991 pilot-build units in advance of the upcoming 1991 model year, this is one of those 5 units. This one bears the label "Show Sleds" and was likely used for marketing pictures, shows, etc. It is believed that an additional 145 1990 Jag Mountain Cats were built for the Swedish market, and it's neighboring countries. This is a good running survivor that we gave a light restoration to in the summer of 2023. Vin number: 9023423. Engine number: F34-950015.
