Not For Sale

This snowmobile is believed to be 1 of 2 experimental models produced in the fall of 1978. This was raced in many cross country races in the winter of 1978-79 by Chester Boman, it still has the original Team Arctic Boman driver decal on the hood. The front suspension has the appearance of the Trail Cat design but is actually entirely different. Many hand-built parts and components are on this sled. Arctic engineers Tubby Lund and Roger Gage created these two sleds in an effort to further test different ideas that they had regarding future model development. This has a 440 bottom-end, 340 liquid cylinders, hex shaft drive clutch and a hand-built reverse cam driven clutch. Very few components on this snowmobile are shared with a production model. This unusual snowmobile has been featured in many publications since it was built including: February 26th 1979 issue of Snow Week, page 123 of the book Legend by C.J. Ramstad, a winter 2008-09 issue of Arctic Pride magazine, and page 119 of the book 50 Years of the Cat by John Sandberg. This was on display at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St Germain WI in 2011-2012.  It survives today in very original condition. Is currently on display at our dealership.
