1969 Arctic Cat Panther P17H Mod

This sled was sold out of Tom's parents dealership when brand new to Rex Berry, then of Mora MN.  Rex raced it for a few seasons out of that store, Rowland Implement. This is a P17HSM of which it is published 187 were produced. The 300cc Hirth engine came from the factory with the megaphone exhaust and some "mod" work done to it. The chassis on this model is uniquely different than most 1969 Panther models in that it has the underhood gas tank, different seat profile and the different rear bumper as well. We still have original pictures of this sled, its owner and some of the many trophies that were won with this snowmobile back in the late 60's. We rediscovered this in 2002 when it showed up on a local farm auction, and we purchased it there.  The seat required recovering, some new track drivers and a new drive clutch...nearly everything else on this is original. In 2008 Elrey Grambart drove this to a second place finish in an exibition drag race at the Hay Days grass drag event. This has been on many vintage rides and was displayed at the Arctic Cat 50th anniversary celebration in Thief River Falls in 2011. In June of 2022 original owner/racer Rex Berry stopped by our store to share some stories and see his old sled for the first time in about 45 years. Chassis Serial: 915955 Model: P17HSM.
